Enigma People Solutions is excited to have been engaged by a world leading international semiconductor design client to search for a talented senior engineer to become their next Physical Design Engineering Manager. This is a unique opportunity to lead, collaborate and make an impact on a market-leading, international semiconductor design business. As a leader in the UK R&D group, you will be responsible for managing a team of physical design engineers to deliver next generation mixed-signal products. This is a high-profile technical leadership role that focuses on both product delivery and methodology development.The successful applicant will take ownership of continuously improving the efficiency of flows and maximise the quality of results. You will have a proven track record of project delivery from RTL to GDSII and have a deep understanding of STA and signoff. You will lead the communication with internal cross-functional teams and external customers. The culture suits highly organised, self-motivated, strongly analytical problem solvers who can work with a sense of urgency and thrive in a dynamic environment whilst retaining a keen sense of humanity, collaboration, openness and support of colleagues.Responsibilities• Be the focal point within the UK R&D organisation to drive the physical design function• Line manage and develop the physical design team (< 10 physical design engineers)• Ensure close working relationship with other design functions, including digital design, DFT, layout and verification• Manage multiple project scoping and execution tasks• Support the physical design function through the entire project lifecycle• Lead the review and signoff process for physical design within overall chip signoff process• Define, develop and deploy new methodologies and flows to drive efficiency and high quality of results• Interface with the US based physical design & CAD/EDA teams• Support the migration to new process technology nodes and new applications• Direct communication with external high-profile customers• Hands on work will be required from time to timeRequired Skills and Qualifications• Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent in a relevant discipline and/or relevant work experience in a similar field• Team management and team development experience• Broad expertise of the full RTL to GDSII design flow and tooling• Deep understanding of STA and chip signoff• Proven track record of project delivery• Good interpersonal and teamworking skills• Ability to share technical expertise and contribute to design reviews• Excellent organisational, collaboration and communication skills• Ability to manage stakeholders• Demonstrate sound decision making and fallback planning ability• An innovative, creative, lateral thinking problem solver• Good understanding of digital, analogue, mixed signal IC design flows• Thorough knowledge of best practice industry tools and techniques Required skills
