Job Description

Our client is looking for a ParalegalClient DetailsA lwading investment firmDescriptionWe are focussed on actual investing, which requires careful stewardship of our clients assets for the long-term; and that vision is reflected in all that we do. The legal department plays a pivotal role in supporting the core business of the firm, doing so in a variety of ways: through advice, innovation, problem solving and the management of material legal risk. The department covers work in all geographies, gaining exposure to a variety of jurisdictional, regulatory and fund related work; and supporting colleagues across the group and its office locations.Purpose of RoleThe Legal Support Unit is made up of Accredited Paralegals and Paralegals. The team are responsible for a broad range of legal work and delivering legal services across the Legal Department and to support the core business of the firm to the high standard expected. The Legal Department is diverse and covers a wide range of geographies and subject matters such as work relating to commercial contracts, segregated account activities, private companies, pooled and mutual funds, derivatives, distribution, registration and project work. The successful candidate for this role will have a real interest in process improvement and legal technology. The role involves providing support to the Global Contracts & IMAs team by providing: contract review assistance; legal drafting of Supplementary IMAs and NDAs; idea generation; and technical support, the latter with an active focus on improving current, and creating new, processes for the team through the utilisation of various technology platforms such as SharePoint, Power Apps and Flows and Tableau. ResponsibilitiesSupporting the Global Contracts & IMAs team and the wider Legal Department, including:

  • Drafting agreements, guidance notes and reports.
  • Developing process improvement initiatives.
  • Liaising with external legal counsel and third parties.
  • Conducting legal research and proof reading.
  • Providing support in relation to the maintenance of precedents, procedures, know how and internal client guides using online and in-house systems including, but not limited to, iManage, SharePoint and Exchange sites.
  • Assisting departmental project implementation and project management.
  • Supporting collaboration between the Legal Department teams and the firm.
  • Providing general administrative and office support to the Legal Department, such as document management services including preparing and circulating execution copy documents, arranging notarisation of documents and processing invoices.
  • ProfileAbilities and skills:-
  • Strong experience of MS Office and a desire to embrace technology change.
  • Experience of electronic document management systems (DMS) - iManage, or similar.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining high quality of service.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work; collaborative team player with ability to work independently using own initiative.Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.Excellent presentation, and written and oral communication skills.Willingness to drive process improvement.
  • Accredited Paralegal qualification or similar (desirable)
