Job Description

Oracle Technical Team Leader4 days from home and 1 in EdinburghOur Client is a nichesoftware providerfocussed on delivering Randomization and Trial Supply solutions for the clinical trial industry. For 20 years theyhave worked with Pharmaceutical companies and Contract Research Organisations to design, build and deploy SaaS solutions for managing the control of subjects and medication through the clinical trial lifecycle.Recently theyhave partnered with an American technology company specialising in providing Clinical Data Capture and Patient Diary software for clinical trials. Their products and their companies are a perfect match, enabling themto provide an industry leading unified and integrated solution.Currently thesoftware which is fully developed in house,is hosted on-premise and theymanage up to 20 projects a year. Theyare aiming to expand that to over 200 within the next 18-24 months.The incomimng person, joining at this exciting time of expansion willlead one or more development teams as our clientwork towards:

  • Scaling product up from 20 projects to 200: through building more self-configuration into the product and redesigning the architecture to allow for multi-tenancy
  • Moving to the Oracle Cloud platform
  • Continuing to integrateproducts through the design/implementation of two-way REST API’s
  • Integration with a number of third party SSO providers to provide a seamless customer experience across all products
  • The software is developed using Oracle APEX and as such, this role requires extensive experience with Oracle and PL/SQL. The perfect candidate will have also had some exposure to .NET architecture - partnered company’s products are written in .NET and deployed on the Google Cloud platform.The incoming personwill have experience of working with senior management, customers and leading a development team. Ideally, this person will have had experience with SSO solutions and Oracle Cloud. One of the most important factors required forsuccess going forward is the ability to scale theproduct rapidly, so the ideal candidate will have had some experience in delivering multi-tenanted solutions.It’s a very exciting time for our client, and theyare looking forward to expanding and you will be instrumental in helping themdrive the businessinto the next phase of itsdevelopment, from a small Scottish based company, to one with a truly worldwide customer base.   • The successful candidate will have a passion for all things tech, and a good work ethic as well as the ability to take initiative, manage workload, staff and multiple client projects.Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work with senior management to plan multiple development streams
  • Play a key role in redesign of the current architecture: from on-premise to cloud, multi-tenancy, SSO solutions across a number of platforms/providers and further design/use of REST API’s
  • Act as the main technical contact for the Client Project Managers and Sales teams
  • Drive day to day Development team
  • Help the team to stay focused throughout the development cycle to mitigate risks to quality and/or project schedule
  • Make priority calls to maintain a realistic balance between feature development priorities and urgent customer needs
  • Skills/Experience:
  • 10+ years of Oracle software development
  • Oracle DBA experience/knowledge desirable
  • .NET experience/knowledge desirable
  • SSO experience; integration with external identity providers
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS applications, highly desirable to have experience migrating applications from single-tenant to multi-tenant architecture
  • Experience using test automation tools
  • Experience working on both bespoke software projects and product development
  • Hands-on experience managing all of the software development elements of a project
  • Self-driven, focused, results and quality oriented
  • The ability to foster self-motivation to achieve tight deadlines
  • Able to approach work with positive energy
  • Plan and produce project timelines
  • Experience leading teams to build, test, and deploy high quality, highly reliable, scalable applications, APIs, and user-interfaces in a team environment.
  • Experience working on product development and project management using agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience in managing a team of Software Developers to ensure products and / or solutions are delivered in a timely fashion and with high-quality standards.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills.
  • Experience working on a Cloud platform and structuring a product for a cloud-based solution.
  • Experience managing both internal & 3rd party delivery teams is desirable
  • Experience overseeing technical support
