Are you interested in how we use and manage the marine environment Do you want to help meet NetZero targets through the development of offshore renewable energy’RPS has an opportunity for a talented and passionate marine environmental consultant to join this deeply experienced, multi-disciplinary team Marine Consents and Environment team who are based across our London, Woking, Chepstow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices. This role can be based out of any of any of these office locations. Overview We have an ambitious plan to expand our support to the global renewables sector and offshore Renewable energy is a key focus area to realise this ambition. By 2030 offshore wind is tipped to provide over one third of the UK’s energy supply. RPS has been there since the beginning, supporting our clients consent and undertake environmental assessments of these major energy infrastructure projects. With the new leasing rounds to be consented across the early 2020’s, there is plenty of work yet to be done. Decarbonising industry is gaining momentum but is meeting the green agenda of world leaders and NetZero targets feasible We think so and we’re ready to help - are you[NS1] Your roleYou will work both independently and within our large multi-disciplinary team, supporting the delivery of multi-billion-pound marine renewable projects, including:Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) coordination and delivery as directed by Project ManagersProduction of technical report and EIA chapter in core skill area Marine and environmental consenting and planning adviceMarine consent management and compliance Client and stakeholder liaison and managementProject, technical and financial tasks as directed by Project ManagersProject management with supervisionBusiness development support as directed by Project ManagersThis role will deliver projects in the UK and Ireland. As we expand into new markets, our team will also support offshore permitting in the US, in Australia and across Asia. Your skills and experienceWe would like you to be degree qualified in a relevant marine environmental related sciences or management, ideally with a higher qualification and have:Membership or chartered status of a relevant professional instituteExperience in one or more technical area of relevance to marine EIA e.g. marine ecology, ornithology, commercial fisheries etc. An understanding of the consent and licensing frameworks for offshore infrastructure in Scotland, and/or England, Wales and IrelandSome previous experience or understanding of consent related technical assessments such as the Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Water Framework Directive (WFD), European Protected Species (EPS) and/or Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) AssessmentWhat we offer youWe will give you the opportunity to work with some of the best talent in this industry.
