A really cool tech company in Edinburgh City Centre is looking for their first dedicated QA to join the team. The role:The company work on unique, ground-breaking products across varied industries stretching across history, literature, science, education, music and much more. The team youd be going into pride themselves on bringing data to life, meaning that data is at theforefront of everything that they do.As you can probably guess, the company is working on very complex (but super interesting!) products that are currently still in stealth mode. Everything is centred around visualising data in a way that has never been done before. You will be coming in as the sole tester to improve the robustness of their web application, helping the developers as new features are getting ready to be released. Just overall using your practical mindset to test all the different combinations, poking awayat their product.YouThey are looking for someone who can come in as a user on the product, essentially working as the User Acceptance Tester for the app. Its not your typical testing role as there wont really be a brief on what to test, which is why theyre looking for someonethat can really take initiative. With this in mind, a genuine interest in the product and/or industry is crucial as this interest will be the thing that drives you to want to get to the solutions of problems and challenge the Engineers to make improvements. They need someone that wont beafraid of doing this and probably someone that is used to working closely with Software Engineers.Attitude is essential to this role, along with autonomy and accountability. Its very much focused around Manual Testing, User Acceptance Testing and Exploratory Testing of their web application - so previous experience doing this is essential. As mentioned, the product is based all around data visualisation so any experience/interest in this would be ideal. It would suit someone that is pretty diligent and someone that has a passion for breaking things!Location and benefits:They is no requirement for a specific level of experience for the role, which means the salary is pretty open as well. Due to the nature of the work itself, the role would likely be sitting around the £30,000 - £45,000 mark but potentially higher for the rightperson.Due to the collaborative nature of their work, the team go in at least three days a week, but you can of course go in more than this if you prefer being onsite. Their office is kitted out with very modern tech (Macbooks, 4k screens etc) so its a great placeto work.If you have a genuine passion for testing unique products and want to work for one of the coolest tech companies in Edinburgh, then please apply or get in touch with Olivia Band at Cathcart Technology.
