Job Description

DescriptionAbout this roleBlackRocks Global Investment Operations (GIO) is responsible for the post-trade and asset servicing functions that support BlackRocks investment businesses worldwide. GIO spans trade documentation, transaction management, collateral management, payments,corporate actions, reconciliations and securities lending functions. GIO partners with BlackRocks Portfolio Managers and Traders globally to provide operational excellence to our partners and clients. The group is made up of 570 staff in 10 locations worldwide.The investment decisions the firm makes every day on behalf of our clients are informed and enabled by the services that GIO provides. In this sense, we are at the heart of everything that BlackRock does. Global Investment Operations Cash Operations Team Cash Operations is a group of dedicated professionals who are essential to the investment process by ensuring that all BlackRock cash & position data are accurate for processes including investment management, analytics, compliance, and regulatory. Cash typesinclude, but are not limited to, equities, fixed income, OTC derivative positions (swaps, swaptions, FXs, and synthetics) and collateral. Our team provides information services and solutions in support of all BlackRock and BlackRock Solutions businesses. Theroles and responsibilities will include actively managing risk and exposure for BlackRock by ensuring the investment book of record reconciled with external prime record holders daily. The role requires an understanding of the mechanics of the reconciliationprocess, exception management, troubleshooting issues, driving innovative enhancements, data analysis, maintaining documentation, assisting management in leading processes, and recommending improvements to ensure efficient and accurate processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership: Drive technology improvements, business process reviews, build vision and seek opportunities that will set the team up to be successful over the long-term
  • Advance Aladdins capabilities in the cash operation including implementation of new technologies leading to risk reduction, increased scale and more robust commercial opportunities for the platform.
  • Collaborate with Global Providers, such as custodians, fund administrators and transfer agents to understand transformation initiatives and how it will impact BlackRock as a client.
  • Understand market practices and regulatory framework, infrastructure changes and identify / deliver opportunities to disrupt and innovate our existing processes and workflow.
  • Conduct periodic business reviews to measure functional operating performance, achievements and upcoming key initiatives
  • Partner with BlackRock Solutions, Client Experience, Institutional Client Business and Trade Support Services to work with internal and external client to provide outstanding operational service and expand offering for new/existing mandates
  • Active engagement with stakeholders to improve operational efficiencies by finding opportunities to implement controls to mitigate risk, reduce costs and streamline processes
Key Proficiencies
  • Broad investment management knowledge across all asset classes or deep subject matter expertise in one area (ex. derivatives, corporate actions, financing, trading, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of BlackRocks Investment Platform and investment life cycle
  • Proven track record, well respected professional with the ability to take the initiative to identify operational processes to be re-engineered for efficiency and scalability
  • Inquisitive by nature, asks probing questions, desire to learn more, yet the where-withal to stand up to ensure the right solution is pursued; understands that client service is NOT just doing what your clients ask you to do
  • Influential communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to represent the team in a credible manner with senior management & clients
  • Executive presence and strong relationship building savvy with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization
  • Ability to lead global teams and understand cross cultural nuisances to build high performing team
  • Strong risk management and control approach
  • Energetic, collaborative and proactive leader who can positively contribute and influence outcomes
