Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding Lead Digital Engineer to join our team in the UK, you be a crucial part of the team, working with people across the organisation not just engineering teams working to transform us to an innovative and engineering based culture.You will also shape our engineering practise, providing technical leadership and helping the team navigate engineering challenges.Role:Be Responsible for Engineering across internal development teams, engineering partner and third-party software providers:

  • To be the point of contact for any problems within software engineering.
  • Help software engineers tackle complex challenges.
  • To provide technical expertise and experience to the team and ensure that appropriate software development techniques are used.
  • Drive innovation through examples and creating a safe environment. encourage the team to test and learn by producing easy to use prototypes and MVPs.
  • Help the team and wider organisation understand engineering, the complex technical challenges, and technical decisions.
  • Responsible for security and safety at each point of the solution both as part of delivery and the longer-term support model.
  • Lead in defining quality metrics for digital software engineering.
  • Maintain a knowledge of emerging best practice and adopting what is most suitable for the Aegon Digital Experience.
  • Helping teams to move blockers by working across the wider organisation.
  • Be passionate about writing great code.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
  • Deep technical background in: Cloud platforms, solutions and frameworks - IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, Digital engineering, Data solutions, analytics and machine learning and Engineering tools.
  • API gateways, Customer Identity solutions, engineering technologies.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, BDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
  • An entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to deconstruct and solve problems, to investigate drivers and figure out why things happen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and get technologists to understand business drivers.
  • Experience:
  • Designing and implementing Digital Experiences.
  • Significant full stack development experience, ideally with experience in Angular, React front-end CSS framework and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
  • Experience of using solutions such as MulesoftAPI Gateway & Okta Identity & Access Management.
  • Experience in building solutions within a serverless and microservices oriented architecture.
  • Experience and deep understanding of technology delivery and particularly technologies such as Vericode, Sonarcube, Jenkins. etc
