Job Description

Lead Data Engineer - Edinburgh - 6 Month ContractOur Public Sector client are currently recruiting for 2 x Lead Data Engineers to join on 6 month initial contracts, inside IR35.The successful candidate will have the following skills/knowledge:

  • Significant experience of PostgreSQL relational database administration, change governance and development in an operational business-critical capacity, and a strong track record in the configuration, operation, and management of large data volume applicationswhich use PostgreSQL database technology.
  • Proven experience in the optimisation of database environments and processes to support data engineering applications, including the routine production and configuration of database outputs to support effective data analytics, geospatial web applicationsand data services. This should include significant experience of managing geospatial data and delivering complex automation of database processes using geospatial data, in particular using PostGIS.
  • Excellent analytical skills are required to be able to scrutinise, optimise and integrate data engineering processes within the database in order to drive efficiency. A working knowledge of data analytics processes, including the proven ability to scriptand automate complex database workflows effectively is required to ensure the provision of appropriate database outputs to support a range of downstream data discovery applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud technical landscape, including: PaaS SQL (PostGIS), Deployment pipelines and redeployment of containers via pipelines (as code), Kubernetes, AWS workspaces
