Job Description

Briefing call for Tech Lead & Senior Tech Lead roles at TSB with Diana Constable (Head of Value Streams - hiring manager), Carol Cunningham (HR), Adam (Head) and Wave Talent (other agency working roles). TSB are looking for 2 Senior Tech Leads (3rd will be internal promotion) and 4 Tech Leads at bands 3 & 4 respectively for salary & benefits. The engineering function is newly in-house which means growth, transformation and change so an exciting timeto join and influence they careers. They have 12 cross-functional feature teams each containing 10 engineers. These sit within Everyday Banking so functions are for online, mobile and in-branch. They are aiming to be 75% in the cloud by the end of next year. Must-haves for both roles are Java (8+) and ReactJS full-stack development experience & background as they will both be expected to produce production quality code. Agile is expected and DevOps desirable as well as any cloud experience. Retail banking experienceis a nice-to-have. They need to have front-end, back-end and microservices experience. The Senior Tech Leads will lead 3-4 feature teams and the Tech Leads will lead 1. The Senior will likely do more man-management but with the numbers, they would look for Leads and Senior Devs below to take on duties such as code-reviews, etc. The Tech Lead(non-senior) would suit a senior developer who has done some leadership, mentoring, etc. as they will sit within as a member of the team. Reporting into Diana, these roles follow the 3-Amigos by working closely with a Delivery Lead and Product Owner for each feature team. Theyve only advertised for a couple of weeks and applicants have been project managers etc who arent technical and not suitable. Roles are open until 26th Jan, can ask Carol to extend if need be. The interview process is 2 stage without a codingtest (this is for engineers/developers). First stage with Diana then second with 2 other amigos. Hybrid with 1-2 days per week or fortnightly, TSB are flexible but expect the same back for instance when its 2-day PI planning, etc.
