Job Description

Java Developers (Senior/Lead) - Edinburgh Hybrid - 80-120K + BonusesLoriens client, a great and expanding firm in the FinTech domain, operating in the worlds largest financial market, is looking to recruit a number of keen Software Developers to build up their new Edinburgh office, bolster their development function, andcontinue to develop products and tooling for their growing customer base.In this instance they are looking for a Lead / Senior level Back End Java Developer to take the reins across the development of core business software as part of their wider global trading platform, work with their team in London which is also growing atpace, and engineer/work on a variety of technical solutions from core trading services, order management and cloud-based microservices, big data solutions and more.heres a snapshot of some of the things youll enjoy:

Some of the duties involved:
  • Design, develop and improve key Back End software and APIs
  • Lead in a hands-on capacity, improving both the team and products simultaneously and representing less senior members at stand ups
  • Liaise with a multidisciplinary team of Front End, Product Management, QA and UX/UI specialists
  • Contribute to flagship system/tooling-related and high-level architectural decisions
  • Lead and mentor less senior Developers as the team grows
  • Writing clean code and instilling best practice wherever possible
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Expert Java development skills with the ability to build low-latency solutions with minimal reliance on frameworks
  • In order to remain flexible and adaptable to meet different requirements, ideally a background involving one or two secondary programming languages (whether Kotlin, Swift, Rust, Python, JavaScript or otherwise)
  • Some record of team leadership ideally with line management skills
  • Good grasp of data structures, algorithms and multithreaded programming
  • A bonus would be any skills/knowledge across the following:
    • Distributed systems
    • Message oriented middleware
    • REST API and Web Sockets
    • Linux, cloud based deployments
