The Role:An opportunity exists for the appointment of Head Office Reporting Manager, leading a team of accountants in the production of all financial and capital reporting for the Central Corporate entities, including entities: M&G plc (FTSE listed), M&G Corporate ServicesLimited (the primary UK service company) and Prudential Capital plc (the group treasury entity). The financial reporting is for statutory and regulatory purposes, as well as internally for the business, and covers solo entities and quarterly Group submissions.The key output from this role will be team management to deliver clarity and transparency around financial performance and financial position, with clear communication in a timely manner to all key stakeholders. The role will also involve hands on application,particularly where guidance on complex issues or process enhancement is necessary to achieve objectives. Key Work Level Accountabilities: Manager or Expert:
  • For people managers, accountable for managing and motivating others to ensure quality of delivery to customers and stakeholders
  • For technical specialists, accountable for delivering expert advice or service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise
  • Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk
  • Manages conflicts that may impact delivery
  • Challenges upwards given knowledge of delivery and awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
  • Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output
  • Manages resources and risks using expert judgment, know-how and experience
Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Manage team that maintains the monthly ledgers for the M&G plc Central Companies including month end process over investment accounting, derivative accounting, pension schemes, intercompany and cost recharges, lease accounting, subordinated debt securitiesaccounting, dividends and share buy-back activities
  • Quarterly reporting and analysis provided to Group for IFRS and SII reporting
  • Oversee preparation of FRS 101 financial statements and liaison with auditors for M&G Central Companies
  • Represent the team at various governance functions including Treasury ExCo, Valuations and Technical Accounting forums
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the central companies control environment, ensuring sufficient process and controls documentation, and ensuring relevant controls operate effectively throughout the year.
  • Monitoring/overseeing M&G Central companies liquidity and cash flow requirements
  • Keep up to date with the latest accounting and business developments
  • Maintain a good relationship with the wider finance and other parts of the business
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Qualified accountant, with relevant PQE
  • Ability to manage a team to deliver to tight deadlines in a tightly controlled process
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to analyse and present results
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • An ability identify problems and drive to follow them through to resolution
  • Asset management or insurance industry experience a definite advantage
  • Experience of HFM, Tagetik, SUN or Oracle Fusion an advantage
