Our Ashley Court Nursing Home in Morningside, Edinburgh (EH10) require a Handyman/woman to support the home with all aspects of basic maintenance.The post is part time for 15 hours per week and can be split over either 2 or 3 days.Our OrganisationAt Randolph Hill, we have enjoyed an enviable reputation for quality care provision since 1985. We have 6 Nursing homes located in Gullane, North Berwick, Edinburgh Sighthill, Edinburgh Morningside, Broxburn and Dunblane and will be opening a new Home in Livingston in the near future.Job PurposeTo ensure a safe home and trouble-free environment for residents, relatives and staffTo uphold residents’ participation strategyTo ensure the building is in good repair and presents a well-cared for look, in keeping with the company imageTo treat colleagues with respect and ensure teamwork is goodMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo report major maintenance problems to the manager and await instructionsTo liaise with Facilities Manager for adviceTo communicate hazards/information to all staff, using communications book’ and noticesTo ensure quotes are received from all proposed trades people and agreement by superiors reached prior to authorisation being givenTo carry out general maintenance to fabric and furnishings so as to present a safe and satisfactory environmentTo attend to general cleanliness of areas surrounding the homeTo ensure that paintwork on walls and ceilings is at all times in good repair, both inside and outsideTo purchase materials for repairs from local suppliersTo maintain company equipment and tools to a safe and efficient levelTo produce receipts for all goods purchasedTo document outcomes in Maintenance Book’To carry out regular checks on identified equipment, alerting management to non-conformance to satisfactory repairTo maintain confidentiality over residents’ informationTo adhere to company uniform policy Required skills
