FPSGs Public Sector Client, here in Scotland, require an experienced developer with solid commercial experience of building modern GIS tools to assist with the development of up to date, GIS products. The role will be hybrid with both remote working andalso require an on-site presence at times in Central Scotland. Your collective focus will be to develop secure and resilient modernGIS tools using a User-Centred Design approach and retire all legacy mapping systems and infrastructure currently in use.Essential skills & experienceWe are looking to engage a Contractor with significant commercial experience in the following technology:* Python 3 and/or Java 11+* Postgres/PostGIS* High performance computing and geometric methods relating to GIS* Modern DevOps and CI/CD practices including deployment pipelines and JenkinsSignificant and demonstrable commercial experience in the following areas:* Delivering high quality software collaboratively in high-performing, cross-functional development teams.* Designing, gaining consensus, and implementing technical solutions for software development projects* Developing solutions using human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices* Designing and implementing solutions using service and event-based architectures* Using testing tools for unit testing, including system test automation frameworks* Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processes, including Grafana* Incrementally replacing enterprise legacy systems* Working in Agile delivery models* Defining infrastructure as code* Code quality, monitoring, telemetry and analytics toolsUseful skills & experience* Demonstrable experience in successful data migration initiatives* Demonstrable experience in successful migration to cloud native development practices and techniques* Demonstrable experience in transitional architecturesCommercial experience of the following:* Typescript* JavaScript UI frameworks, including React* GeoServer* Spring Boot microservices* AWS including: CDK; Serverless (Lambda); S3; SQS; API Gateway; CloudFormation; Aurora/PostgresNext Steps:Please apply immediately with your most recent CV (preferably in Word format if possible) as a quick turnaround is expected with this opportunity.
