Job Description

Geologist Location Edinburghcontract: Full time PermanentSalary £45,000-£55,000 per annum depending on skills and experienceBenefits Bonus for OTE £7,000 pa, paid quarterly, 7% pension contribution, 31 days annual leave (including bank holidays)Maptek is a global organisation supplying technical products and services to the mining industry. Our Edinburgh office is an easy-going team of sales and technical professionals who work across Europe, North & West Africa, and the Middle East.The Technical Services Geologist is part of the team that delivers training, consulting, and technical support to users of Maptek products. The role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and commodities. If you enjoy improving processes,developing and testing new techniques, and working with geology teams to ensure consistent adoption of processes then we would love to discuss the role with you in more detail.Some of what you would do

  • Train new users to learn standard processes and workflows in Maptek products
  • Develop new techniques and process to address customer problems
  • Assist users to implement process improvements based on new developments and techniques
  • Contribute to product testing and bug reporting
  • Provide consulting services on customer projects
  • Provide technical support to address customer problems
What we need from you
  • 5 years or more on-site mining experience
  • University qualification in Geology or Geoscience
  • An interest in developing new techniques and processes
  • Great initiative and results focus
  • A resourceful and independent approach to solving problems
  • A passport and driving licence
  • Willingness to travel and work at customer sites
  • Familiarity with Maptek products and services would be an advantage
  • Excellent speaking, writing, and reading comprehension skills in the English language
  • Competence in French will be an advantage
We are offering
  • A permanent, full-time position, 40h per week
  • Annual salary of £45k-£55k depending on skills and experience
  • Quarterly OTE bonus
  • 7% employer pension contributions
  • 31 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
