Job Description

Our client, a public sector body, seek a Financial Accountant, for an interim period through until 31st March 2023.This role is based in Edinburgh and offers some hybrid working.It is renumerated at a day rate of £122.61 - £139.30You will have a key role in supporting the annual report and accounts process including audit compliance. You will be supporting to embed a new capital asset management framework into business as usual, including building and maintaining key processes. Youwill support in providing assurance to senior leadership on balance sheet reporting and supporting in the provision of technical advice to the unit and wider business.Main duties:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of the year end statutory annual accounts ensuring compliance with best practise and current IFRS, FReM and SPFM requirements.
  • Support in the upkeep of annual accounts framework to ensure compliance with all accounting requirements and legislation.
  • Interact with external audit to meet audit deliverables.
  • Assist with assurance reporting to senior leadership team to ensure balance sheet account reconciliations are up to date.
  • Supporting SCTS to embed the new capital asset management framework, including development and implementation of a new capital asset management tool and processes.
  • Support with development and upkeep of capital asset management business as usual processes and activities within the Financial Accounting team.
  • Assisting with review of accounting policies as required with wider FPU, making recommendations to senior management around compliance with best practice and current IFRS, FReM and SPFM requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with Finance Business Partners, assist with providing technical financial expertise to Finance and the wider organisation in line with best practice and all current IFRS, FReM and SPFM requirements.
