Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Finance Adviser for an initial 3 month contract – working 4 days per month - on a rate of £450/day (Inside of IR35). This role will be a hybrid of workingat home and the office.Responsibilities:- Ensure readiness for the migration from the current finance system (SEAS) to a new shared service finance system (Oracle Cloud), and as far as possible, ensure our needs are being met and factored into planning- Review our existing financial monitoring and reporting processes- Review our existing financial monitoring and reporting tools- Make (or recommend) any improvements to raise reporting standards and improve operational effectiveness and consistency through process, technology and/or people capability development - Develop and embed any new processes required for the new system- Mentor / coach staff to improve confidence and skills, as required- Quality assure our financial reporting to senior management, Audit and Risk Committee and Governance Board- Assure compliance with SPFM, FReM and relevant legislationEssential Skills:- Excellent knowledge and practical experience of SEAS- Excellent understanding and practical experience of budgeting and financial management processes and monthly reporting - Strong ability to recommend and deliver improvements in budgeting and financial management processes and reporting - Strong ability to develop and coach staff - Strong financial modelling skills using applications such as Microsoft Excel.- Good knowledge of requirements of SPFM, FReM and relevant legislation- Good technical accounting skills and experience in preparing year-end financial accounts- Proven ability to work on your own initiative and manage competing prioritiesDesirable Skills:- Professionally qualified accountant – CCAB professional accountancy body or equivalent with up-to-date CPD (candidates who are at an advanced stage in studying towards a professional accountancy qualification will also be considered).- Knowledge of alternative bookkeeping packages (Xero, Quick Books etc)- Practical experience of using Oracle Financials- Effective communication skillsIf you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
