Job Description

Title: Event OfficerType: Full-Time, Fixed Term (March 2024)Salary: £25,477 - £29,318 per annum (under review)Location: SRUC EdinburghREF: CML/CS/055/22Closing Date: 12 October 2022SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe. Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.Reporting to the SAC Consultings FAS Operations Manager, the purpose of this role is to work with colleagues to support the delivery of an annual Farm Advisory Service (FAS) events plan taking into account strategic objectives, resource levels at key points,balanced geographical distribution of events and appropriate support levels.Scope of the role: To provide event design and delivery support to ensure that events are consistent in look and feel, messaging, design approaches and working across as many areas as possible. To take responsibility for an agreed number of programme events, including online events and to be accountable for their delivery. This will include the construction and dismantling of event and engagement materials (including audio-visual equipment) at various locations throughout Scotland. These can be indoors or out (e.g. on-farm, conference centres, hotels) To collaborate with colleagues to create and curate programme graphics, marketing collateral and promotional materials that support wider programme messages and convey a vibrant image of the programme. Specific logistic and technical requirements include, where available, working from supplied schematic diagrams outlining positioning of material within each event, the driving and loading/unloading of the events van (including refuelling and washing thevan as required). Take responsibility for risk assessments and health and safety considerations for the events for which the Events Officer is responsible. The post involves a significant amount of evening and weekend work, particularly during the summer months, including some overnight stays.The post holder requires experience and specialist knowledge relating the successful planning and organisation of a wide range of events. While, with the appropriate level of experience, an academic qualification may not be essential, a qualification inevents management (e.g. HND, degree) would be beneficial, particularly to allow the post holder to progress to a position of greater responsibility over time.The post involves a significant amount of evening and weekend work, including travel and some overnight stays. Working hours would therefore vary according to the events schedule. Travel to various locations mainly across Scotland will be required to fulfilthe requirements of the post.This is a full-time post and is fixed term until 31 March 2024.Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
