Job Description

Our client, a public sector organisation , seek an Estates Finance Manager for a period of 6 months.This role is primarily based in Ladywell, Edinburgh with occasional travel.This attracts a day rate of £223 (inside IR35).Main duties:

  • Support the preparation of the annual budget and various mid-year budgeting exercises as part of the SG Spending Review process.
  • Support month-end and year-end processes, including production and review of outturn reports, undertaking reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Liaise closely with internal and external stakeholders, including the Scottish Government, suppliers and customer groups.
  • Proactively identify efficiencies in systems and processes, ensuring that financial controls are adequate and continually improving in order to contribute to the delivery of value for money outcomes.
  • Responsible for financial modelling and impacting to support the production of business cases and providing professional financial support to programmes and projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Line management and mentoring of staff ensuring they have the support, knowledge and skills to carry out their roles effectively.
  • Work flexibly across the Finance Team, taking on a range of other work as required to ensure that priorities are met.
  • Providing financial support to the Service area delivery leads within Estates.
  • Complying with the requirements of the Scottish Public Finance Manual (SPFM), the UK Government Financial Reporting Manual (FReM) and working within the requirements of the Consolidated Budgeting Guidance.
Essential skills/criteria
  • Well-developed analytical and excel skills with the ability to interpret and analyse complex financial data from a variety of sources, identify discrepancies and recommend solutions to ensure value for money.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, to secure successful outcomes.
  • Experience of financial management across financial planning, forecasting, management accounting and the month-end process
  • Demonstrable ability to manage people and teams, building confidence, capacity and capability.
  • Experience of SG corporate systems such as SEAS, EASEbuy, eRDM and other IT Packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
