Role Context: We are looking for an ESG Reporting Accountant to join the Group Sustainability Reporting team to help deliver against an expanding range of disclosure requirements. Its an exciting time to be involved in this fast-moving space, with companies coming undergrowing pressure to disclose more information on their sustainability efforts, and with regulations and disclosure frameworks evolving to allow for reporting in more standardized and comprehensive formats. The role will play a key part in contributing to the processes that underpin the overall preparation and delivery of the Groups sustainability reporting, providing a great overview of the ESG activity being undertaken across the group. Reporting to the GroupESG Reporting Manager, the role includes a broad range of responsibilities such as the preparation of disclosures through collaboration with various business functions, and contributing to papers for a range of governance committees and forums. • Accountable for delivering expert advice or service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise
• Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk
• Manages conflicts that may impact delivery
• Challenges upwards given knowledge of delivery and awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
• Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output
• Manages resources and risks using expert judgment, know-how and experience

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

• Supporting the Group ESG Reporting Manager in the overall production of the Groups external sustainability reporting
• Supporting or leading the delivery of specific ESG disclosure requirements, with a particular focus on entity-level SFDR reporting requirements
• Working collaboratively with various subject matter experts to design ESG disclosures for inclusion in external reporting documents
• Production of papers required for the Group Audit Committee and other governance forums to support the approval and publication of ESG disclosures
• Coordinating responses to auditor queries in relation to ESG disclosures
• Taking personal accountability to maintaining and enhancing controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment
• Keeping abreast of developments in the ESG disclosure space to ensure all disclosures are in line with latest requirements of various regulatory bodies and emerging best practice

Knowledge & Experience: To ensure your success in this role you will be/have:

• Qualified Accountant with an interest in ESG-related matters
• Experience of production and delivery of group-level disclosures in a life and pensions / asset management organisation (not necessarily ESG disclosures)
• Some knowledge of TCFD, SFDR, or other ESG reporting frameworks

It is desirable for the candidate to have:

• Some knowledge of industry trends, best practice and developments in ESG
• Good networks / links with external bodies and individuals in the same field
• Experience in implementing new accounting standards

• Highly analytical and skilled problem solver, with a strong commercial mind-set, and the ability to distil complex ideas or problems into simple and easy-to-understand language
• Ability to assess, react quickly and decisively to problems, taking tough decisions where needed or escalating issues as appropriate
• Ability to manage tensions and conflicts to achieve outcomes that work for all parties
