Job Description

Electrician with solar PV experience required for an established renewable energy developers Edinburgh office.Reporting to the Energy Services Director, you would be responsible for delivering installation contracts including the installation, installation management, procurement, inspecting and testing, certifying and commissioning of installations of solar PVprojects.This would entail solo and group working for commercial and domestic installs. Project delivery would involve site surveys, electrical and mechanical design, equipment procurement as well as site supervision, testing, commissioning and eventually handover.£35K-40K depending on experiencePrivate healthcare, company pension, vehicle provided.Responsibilities:

  • Site surveys of commercial/agricultural buildings for electrical and mechanical design and installation
  • Manage survey and design work such as planning & grid connection applications, EPC & structural surveys, HSE and more.
  • Electrical design of LV electrical systems such as cable and circuit breaker sizing and involvement in project design.
  • Method statements and risk assessments for project construction phase plan
  • Effectively allocate and plan resource use to ensure projects remain within budget with appropriate tracking
  • Manage subcontractors such as HSE management, quality control, contract admin
  • Liaise with line manager regarding active developments, escalation of issues and progress updates
  • Carry out installation works in adherence with current legislation British Standards, Codes of Practice, industrial standards.
  • Adhere to IEE Wiring Regulations
  • Carry out fault-finding and diagnostics when needed for repair and maintenance
  • Inspect and test new and existing installs and complete relevant test certification
  • All work should be carried out to meet quality standards, within budget and on time.
Travel: The expectation is to spend 2-3 days a week on site. You will primarily be in Scotland but travel in the UK occasionally.Requirements:
  • 2 years experience working within renewables or related engineering industry carrying out commercial solar PV installations
  • Fully qualified electrician (18th Edition inspection and testing)
  • City & Guilds Electrical Installation 2330 or 2360 Parts 1 & 2
  • Recognised trade apprentice
  • Good knowledge of wiring regulations and certification
  • Able to carry out system inspection & testing to BS 7671, commissioning and handover
  • Practical knowledge of modules, inverters, DC wiring and monitoring systems
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Full, clean driving licence
Desirable:
  • City & Guild 2372/2399 or NICEIC Solar PV
  • Experience installing ASHP, GSHP, biomass, battery storage, LED lighting (commercial), voltage optimization and EV charging
  • Working at heights training
  • HSE qualification such as IOSH, NEBOSH
  • Membership or accreditation from relevant professional body
