Digital Product Owner24 months FTC/ SecondmentEdinburgh - Hybrid workingIn the Customer Excellence & Operations value stream, were committed to providing a best-in-class experience to new and existing M&G Wealth customers, via the journeys they undertake themselves or the journeys undertaken on their behalf by financial advisersand other professional users. We aim to provide an excellent and efficient customer service, using digital capability to make us easier to do business with, while ensuring we handle our customers investments in a safe, secure and compliant way. Today, the CE&O value stream has around 20 cross-functional teams working on key journeys spanning the product lifecycle, from point of sale to settlement. We have a clear, long-term vision for each of our journeys and we use Agile methodology to deliver thisvision at pace, taking problems through a robust design and user-testing process and using quarterly planning cycles to progress our agreed highest priority solutions. As a Product Owner in CE&O, youll be aligned to one of the key journeys but youll be flexible when priorities require you to work on other journeys within the value stream. Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Working closely with the Head of the Customer Excellence & Operations value stream to manage and enhance your assigned area of the value stream backlog
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and/or other value streams in Operations, Proposition, Distribution, and Marketing to deliver clearly-defined customer and business outcomes
  • Understanding the wider business strategy/direction and incorporating this into the design of new features
  • Leading the design of features to solve customer and business problems
  • Contributing to business case creation to validate the benefits of new features, and monitoring the success of features delivered
  • Ensuring proposed solutions follow a robust design process and are appropriately tested with users
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, providing clear direction and timely decision-making on scope and priorities so they can operate efficiently
  • Making decisions on your product/feature delivery to maximise the earliest possible delivery of value and greatest return on investment
  • Positively promoting the work of the Customer Excellence & Operations value stream
  • Contributing to the development of our product management approach and increasing the awareness of the capability across the business
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and taking personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls in your area of responsibility, to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&Gs operationalrisk.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:Essential:
  • You have been part of a team managing a successful external or internal facing software product
  • You have experience with end to end product management, from ideation to BAU, across web and mobile
  • You are obsessed with attention to detail and making sure your solutions solve genuine customer problems
  • You are comfortable working with a technical team
  • You are comfortable providing direction where ambiguity exists
  • You are able to strike a balance between innovation vs established solutions and can evaluate which is the best approach for different problems
  • You are comfortable being challenged and challenging others in the right way to achieve the best possible customer outcome
  • You have a track record of quickly establishing yourself within a new area or industry, understanding the needs of internal & external users and the opportunities to meet these
  • You understand how to measure the success of a digital product and how new functionality will make an impact
  • You have sufficient technical knowledge to understand and debate solutions and sizing of work
  • You have experience and a strong understanding of Agile methodology and tools
Desirable:Whilst experience within our industry is not essential, it helps to have a background in:
  • Our target customers and their financial advisers
  • Life and pensions products, markets and competitors
  • Asset management, markets and competitors
  • Financial services regulatory frameworks
  • M&G products, systems and distribution methods
  • Relevant degree/ Product Management certification
