Job Description

Desktop Support Technician (Contract) – Inside IR35Location: Edinburgh OfficeWorking Hours: 8.30 am - 4.30 pm with a 30-minute breakPay: £230 per day (may be negotiable based on experience)Contract Duration: 6 months with extensions based on performanceJob S ummary:The Desktop Support Technician installs, updates, and repairs personal computer hardware, software, and network service systems. Maintains and implements desktop solutions in support of organizational business needs. Provides professional-level phone supportto customers. Performs all duties in accordance with company policies and proceduresAs a Desktop Support Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting and replacing laptop and PC hardware.
  • Performing hardware upgrades, disposal, and maintaining an asset inventory.
  • Setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop solutions.
  • Providing professional-level phone support to customers.
  • Handling complex user problems, escalating when necessary.
  • Participating in the IT Support queue and prioritizing open issues.
  • Logging, prioritizing, assigning, and troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Performing 1st and 2nd level support for desktop applications, networking, and hardware issues.
  • Safeguarding systems from viruses and malware through updates.
  • Managing customer issues and documenting technical solutions.
  • Tracking and completing assigned tasks for project deliverables.
  • Building and deploying new workstations and upgrading hardware/software.
To succeed in this role, you should possess some of the following qualities:
  • A technical degree or related work experience.
  • Proven experience in desktop support and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
