The Role:The role requires a commercially astute qualified lawyer and sits within the newly created Privacy function for the global M&G PLC Group (M&G PLC) as part of a high performing multi skilled team to provide M&G PLC subject matter expertise for all aspects ofPrivacy. The role is to assist the CPO/DPO as part of the Privacy team in variety of tasks including setting up a privacy framework, monitoring, advising, drafting and negotiating data privacy clauses, assisting with DPIAs and providing assurance on privacycompliance activities in all the regions operated by M&G PLC. The role is to provide subject matter expertise as a trusted advisor to the CPO/DPO, the Privacy team and other departments. The successful candidate will have experience in the practical applicationof privacy in a technological context, in particular in advising on all aspects of data protection law relevant to the technical design, implementation and execution of cloud and digital strategies. Additionally the role requires demonstrable experience offostering a data protection culture, being pragmatic, commercial and being able to escalating risks and issues as appropriate. Part Time will be considered and location is flexible. Key Responsibilities: To cooperate and assist CPO/DPO as part of the Privacy team in the fulfilment of their responsibilities. To provide appropriate advice and interpretation of applicable Data Protection law to the CPO/DPO, Privacy and Legal teams. Drafting and advising on complex data protection-related documentation such as data processing agreements and data transfer agreements, data protection policies and privacy impact assessments, including revision for GDPR and Brexit Be a key data privacy advisor for Privacy knowledge related to the application of cloud and digital technologies Provide DPO support for industry forums, regulatory changes Knowledge & Experience: Expert in national and European data protection and privacy practices. Demonstrable experience advising senior management on data privacy matters. Demonstrable experience advising on the pragmatic impact of privacy on technology including cloud and digital strategies Demonstrable ability to find practical, pragmatic and creative solutions to Privacy issues. Demonstrable experience in providing SME input into cross functional projects and programmes. Good working knowledge of privacy risk assessment models and methodologies.. Good working knowledge and understanding of programme/project risk management. Qualifications: Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction or a dual qualified lawyer with commercial and data Protection experiences (ideally 5-7 years + PQE with in house experience) Being IAPP CIPP/E qualified would be an advantage Recent experience of advising on the pragmatic impact of privacy on technology including cloud and digital strategies Recent experience drafting and negotiating data protection provisions into commercial finance and legal documentation.
