Job Description

Security Engineering Specialist - Cyber SecurityLocation: Edinburgh (Hybrid 1/2 days a week in office)Salary: Dependent on experienceJob Type: PermanentFantastic opportunity to work with a household name dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experience. Joining an innovative and inspiring team you will build and maintain security controls and tooling across both cloud and on-site databases. Youwill have the chance to be a part of innovation and business transformation whilst driving towards an agile working environment.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and maintaining security controls and tooling across both AWS/Azure and within on-site datacentres.
  • Automating manual processes via scripting and pipelines.
  • Utilising security tools such as Crowdstrike, Darktrace, Splunk, Sentinel or similar
  • Demonstrating enthusiasm and initiative in embedding an engineer mindset and driving the team.
  • Utilsing Windows/Linux
  • Continually striving to improve and develop application, infrastructure and network level security practices and protocols
To be a successful you will possess:
  • Experience with datacentre-based firewall/IDS/IPS devices
  • Hands on experience with Infrastructure code (cloudformation/ Terraform)
  • A passion for scripting and be skilled in bash, powershell, python and Jenkins
  • Knowledge and experience of agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Understanding of multi-tiered systems architecture and the principles of service management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to engage with technical and non-technical business stakeholders from 3rd party to c-suite.
  • Knowledge of Git version control and the management of multiple code streams.
  • Flexibility to work out of hours when necessary to support any incidents or complex change.
Reward:Salary is £50,000 to £55,000 dependent on experience. There is also a very competitive bonus package ranging between 10%- 25%.
