Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.In this role you will work closely with the Academic and Commercialisation divisions to develop new approaches to contractual activities in the delivery of SRUC activity in research and development, innovation and exploitation activities.Reporting directly to the Head of Research, duties will include: drafting and reviewing contracts, collaboration agreements, Material Transfer Agreements and other agreements required to facilitate academic research and relevant commercial consultancy activity protecting academic freedom to operate (use of results and intellectual property, publication) maximising and exploiting opportunities for translation and knowledge transfer managing risk through negotiation of warranties, liabilities and indemnities in accordance with approved risk management frameworks ensuring contract activity compliance with SRUC policies, procedures and best practice recording research governance arrangements, applying legislation and related guidance regarding applicability to research being proposed/undertaken providing advice and guidance regarding documentation for research projects, and commercialisation and innovation teamTo be considered, you should possess significant similar experience within a contracts working environment, preferably with experience of research contracts preparation and administration in an academic or R&D environment. An advanced university degree inlaw is desirable.Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify problems and offer pragmatic options for solutions are essential.
