Job Description

Content Designer - EdinburghPertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for a Content Designer on a temporary basis for 6 Months.The role is full time and 37 hours a week. Salary between £53,941- £57,447 and this role is within IR35.The main duties would be:Needs Analysis:

  • Understanding & balancing both the business and user needs, specifically of HROD digital touchpoints
  • Experience of UX techniques, such as card sorting, to best structure information architecture, workflow, website navigation, co-design content with real users and subject experts
  • Present content in the most appropriate format to meet user needs
  • Content Production:
  • Scoping, commissioning, writing and editing content that is simple to read and easy to understand for all Company staff and customers by focusing on addressing user needs and avoiding complex language and processes
  • Align content items with the most appropriate content formats to ensure clear and consistent user journeys
  • Suggesting new content formats where required to better meet user needs
  • Content Production: (Cont.)
  • Working with colleagues to develop:
  • HROD content strategies that are accessible and useable and will support the wider business
  • a master HROD content calendar; o in line with the company content style guide
  • Produce accessible (WCAG 2.1) complaint content
  • Quality:
  • Ensure content is fact checked and be accountable for its accuracy
  • Shape the development of our evolving business and making recommendations to enhance content
  • Work with analytics analysts in understanding content usage & performance including identifying journey funnels and A/B tests for new content
  • Developing quality checklists to measure against existing content to identify any content gaps, overlaps, inaccuracies or other issues
  • Manage relationships with subject matter experts
  • Optimising content for Search at all times
  • General:
  • Provide strategic insight into how to develop intranet content as a whole with a specific focus on HROD content (as the largest content provider on the intranet), as well as other individual projects, over the short, medium and long term
  • Support the development of the company content design through the communities of practice and shadowing of more junior staff
  • Essential Skills:
  • Experience of writing for the web with proven ability to create content that is both accessible and usable and with an understanding of various editorial standards
  • Experience of using content management systems
  • Experience of creating or sourcing engaging, fit for purpose, and inspiring content and prioritising its use to deliver an effective, benefit-realising content calendar
  • Qualifications / Education required
  • Educated to degree level within related field of digital, communications or marketing and / or relevant experience in working with content publishing systems and designing engaging and inspiring content
