Job Description

Cloud ArchitectOutside IR356 monthsRemote/EdinburghA Cloud technical architect provides technical leadership and is responsible for the design and build of technical Cloud architecture.The role will generally:

  • undertake structured analysis of technical issues, translating this analysis into technical designs that describe a solution.
  • be consulted about design and provide design patterns
  • identify deeper issues that need fixing
  • look for opportunities to collaborate and reuse components, communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders within and out with
  • This role will undertake activity in some specific key projects which could include developing architectures for public cloud, hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure , as well as taking a role in the more strategic cloud migration work within the programme.
Essential Criteria
  • At least 3 years experience in an senior cloud architecture role.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and at short notice to a mix of technical and business audiences
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable dealing with challenge and ambiguity.
  • Must have at least 3 years relevant professional work experience designing, executing, and supporting IT Cloud solutions.
Technologies
  • Public cloud offerings specifically Amazon Web Services.
  • Understanding of modern operating systems, virtualisation technologies and data storage and management systems.
  • Understanding of modern software development frameworks.
  • Understanding of SOAP and REST APIs, API Gateways & API Management
  • SaaS/PaaS/IaaS on a leading public cloud platform
Desirable
  • Understanding of Public sector challenges and constraints.
