Cardiology provides a supra-regional comprehensive service to a population of approximately 2.6 million; the service extends from the Lothian’s, to the Borders, Fife, Tayside, ForthValley, Grampian and Highland Regions. The service provides a Primary PCI and Optimal Reperfusion Service to SEAT and tertiary Cardiology services to a large proportion of the Scottish population for both specialist in and out patient services. The Directorate of Cardiothoracic Surgery provides Cardiac & Thoracic services to several Health Boards in Scotland. The service is electively driven but encompasses a proportion of urgent and emergency referrals. The directorate provides a comprehensive specialist service to adults with Cardiothoracic disease and lung/oesophageal cancer, requiring surgery. It provides a range of specialist care from ward level, through High Dependency (level 2) to Intensive Care (level 3 care). The service also provides Secondary Health Promotion and advice to patients and their families via ward and liaison nursing staff.Respiratory services include the respiratory ward which is one of the biggest wards on the site and the Department of Sleep Medicine which is the regional centre for sleep studies. The post holder will report to the Clinical Service Manger for CTR and professionally to the Associate Nurse Director for the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.For an informal discussion please contact Julie Gibson This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record.
