This employer is the UKs most popular craft beer club, curating a delicious selection of beers for their members from a new country each month. With a team of over 70, based mainly at their Edinburgh HQ, they are one of the UKs fastest-growing and most exciting startups.They are looking for an experienced accounting professional to lead our finance team, ultimately to be based in their Edinburgh office. You will oversee the move to holding stock under duty suspension and will manage internal and external accountants who are responsible for the accurate reporting of statutory accounts, VAT returns and alcohol duty payments. You will also prepare monthly management accounts and a half yearly investor report, taking care of interactions with the investor base. Your analysis and insights into their performance will help management to formulate an effective strategy and to raise additional capital..Responsibilities- Provide financial leadership and assist in driving the Companys performance and profitability- Develop financial reporting, management information, insightful analysis, and interpretation for management- Ensure that effective credit control procedures are operating within the business- Monitor and review monthly company performance against budget- Work with senior team on financial forecasting, setting of KPIs, annual budget- Preparing board reports and presenting to external stakeholders- Generating finance through investment appraisal, equity finance and attending investor roadshows- Ensure the completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliations- Oversee the preparation of year end consolidated statutory accounts- Ensure robust financial systems and controls are in place- Updating forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)- Ability to see the big picture and be forward thinking in relation to growth, budgets, capital allocation and future fundraisingRequirements- A strong commercial business background with an understanding of key business processes and drivers- Solid understanding of accounting, financial statements, budget and forecasting processes and internal control procedures- Strong communication, interpersonal skills- Advanced Excel Skills- Confident presentation and negotiation skills- Ability to multitask and handle competing deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment- Experience of leading a fundraising process with backers- Proven work experience as a CFO, Commercial Accountant, Head of Finance, Financial Controller or similar- Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models- Proficiency in Xero accounting software- BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant fieldDesirable Skills- Experience with alcohol duty- Experience at a PE-backed or AIM-listed high growth company- Prior experience gained within FMCG / Retail /Tech- Experience of working in a finance function within the drinks industry highly desired
