Job Description

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Casework Officer for as soon as possible until the end of March 2024 on a rate of £13.07 -£13.83/hour PAYE. These roles will be hybrid based.Responsibilities:- Monitor and evaluate forms in connection with emergency detentions, short term detentions and compulsory treatment orders, to ensure that these are complete and accurate and in accordance with the relevant legislation and that individuals are in receipt ofappropriate care and treatment.- Follow up missing or incorrect information and, when necessary, question information provided, with a view to preventing challengeable or unlawful detentions.- Responsible for the accurate processing of individual personal details and information into the electronic database and for ensuring that the information is kept up to date, to facilitate easy data retrieval and assist the Commission to fulfil its legislativeduty to monitor the MHA and AWI Act.- Provide information and signposting to other stakeholders in response to general telephone enquiries, forwarding calls for more in-depth advice/information to a member of practitioner staff.- Provide administrative support for local visits according to yearly visit programme and most up to date protocols.- Provide administrative support for AWI guardianship visits, i.e. preparing, uploading and posting letters to intimated parties to ensure the Commission fulfils its statutory obligations to individuals with mental illness, learning disability or related conditions. - Process requests for MHA and AWI second opinions, making sure that the relevant paperwork is completed, to ensure individuals are in receipt of appropriate care and treatment.- Process forms, manually and electronically, and prepare correspondence and follow up on outstanding or omitted information in relation to Adults with Incapacity legislation to ensure compliance with that legislation.- Establish and maintain productive professional relationships with medical records departments, social work departments and other service providers across Scotland, to promote best practice among this range of contacts. - Undertake assigned specialist task of monitoring young person admissions to ensure the Commission fulfils its statutory responsibilities in these areas of work.Essential Skills:- Educated to HNC level or equivalent level of administration experience- Effective interpersonal skills- Proficient IT skills in particular with Microsoft Office packages- Effective organisational skills - Knowledge of GDPR and the governance around handling of sensitive person-specific data.- Ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals, people with lived experience, carers, etc- Excellent time management skills- Call handling experience- Attention to detailIf you would like to hear more about these opportunities please get in touch.
