Job Description

Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.The Thriving Natural Capital Challenge Centre (TNCCC) at SRUC, Scotlands Rural College, works with corporate and government partners and rural businesses and communities to achieve net zero goals through nature-based solutions to climate change that cankick-start nature recovery and support rural communities.As businesses increasingly focus on ESG and CSR targets, we want to work with them to ensure they understand the opportunities of nature-based solutions, and help us build high-integrity markets that provide measurable and permanent climate benefits alongsidebenefits for nature and local communities.The main areas of activity for the Business Development Officer in the TNCCC are:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with companies, individuals and foundations to which the TNCCC can provide unpaid support to generate societal impact, and paid research and policy consultancy.
  • Act as a main point of contact for businesses, to showcase the range of services that the TNCCC can offer to those in our growing networks.
  • Creatively identify strategic fundraising opportunities and suggest new partnerships which are aligned to the strategic goals of TNCCC.
  • Write first drafts for the Directors of innovative, attractive, well-researched and appealing proposals and overview documents for prospective partners.
  • Plan and deliver engagement events connected to TNCCC priorities.
  • Appropriate record keeping and documentation of all business development activity.
  • Be flexible and willing to help with a wide range of TNCCC tasks, including project management of bid and proposal development, public reporting and communications.
Scope of Job:
  • Manage a mixed portfolio of prospects and projects, with particular focus on high-value and high impact partnerships.
  • Creatively identify strategic funding opportunities and new partnerships which are aligned with the TNCCC, and which also meet partner objectives.
  • Steward, monitor, and manage existing partnerships.
  • Write first drafts for the Directors of innovative, attractive, well-researched and appealing proposals and overview documents.
  • Coordinate and plan research into new prospects, and participate in regular planning meetings with the TNCCC co-Directors to identity how best to progress new relationships.
