The Company Able Bridge Recruitment are currently working with a hugely successful business in the recruitment of a bookkeeper/assistant accountant on a permanent basis. The company has it`s headquarters in Edinburgh although they also have corporate offices in Glasgowand West Lothian (this role will be based in Edinburgh).Working alongside the head of finance you will form part of a team of accounting professionals who provide support to the business.Benefits our client offer include;Full medical healthcare (after qualifying period).Holiday entitlement that increases with service.Pension.Free on street parking.The ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this role is to support the accounts manager/head of finance in the provision of accounting services for the business. You will liaise with stakeholders internally and externally in producing accounting information which is of both a statutorynature as well as management information for internal decision making.On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;Be responsible for the completion of VAT and CIS returns and submit these to HMRC.Reconciliation of bank accounts and resolve anomalies when they arise.Assist in the completion of weekly and monthly payroll.Assist in the raising of sales invoices, distribution and posting them onto the companies Sage accounting platform.Work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure that purchase ledger invoices are promptly input onto Sage and prepare them for payment runs.Reconciliation of purchase and sales ledger ensuring that errors/queries are resolved promptly.Allocation of money received to appropriate client and corresponding invoice.The RequirementsWe require a well versed and highly experienced bookkeeper (with UK Experience), who has strong knowledge and experience in working within a construction (or similar industry), it is essential that applicants have experience of completing CIS returns as thisis a fundamental part of the role. Whilst we are not seeking an accounting qualification necessarily, it would be beneficial. Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of using systems such as Sage/Sage Payroll and be confidentin working on their own initiative. Whilst our client is seeking somebody to be office based, they are flexible in offering full or part time hours.
