Job Description

AWS Developer - 6 month contract - outside IR35Are you ready to make a significant impact in the field of public service innovation Registers of Scotland are looking for an experienced AWS Developer to collaborate on a new project to redefine the landscape of their Register applications and systems.This is part of a new legislation change and you will be part of a small team to explore the potential, scope, and solutions required. This initial phase will involve close collaboration with their product and development teams to introduce fresh featuresand support user testing in a private beta environment. Your expertise will play a crucial role in refining and enhancing existing functionalities.Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate seamlessly with product and development teams to deliver innovative features.
  • Provide essential support during user testing within a private beta setting.
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of the existing system landscape and explore possibilities for enhancements.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in AWS technologies, including CDK, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, CloudFormation, and Aurora/Postgres.
  • Adept in Typescript and modern JavaScript UI frameworks, especially React.
  • Strong grasp of HTML/CSS with a keen awareness of accessibility considerations.
  • Familiarity with cloud monitoring, telemetry tools, and processes, such as Grafana.
Experience Required:
  • A track record of producing top-quality software through collaborative efforts.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders from diverse business areas, including Product Management, Service Design, and Operations.
  • Familiarity with GDS, Digital First, or similar quality standards in development.
  • Previous involvement in crafting and executing service-based and serverless architectures.
  • Proficiency in effectively communicating complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences using written, verbal, and visual means.
  • Prior experience working within Agile delivery models, such as Scrum and/or Kanban frameworks.
  • Strong foundation in formal XP engineering techniques and defining infrastructure-as-code.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in human-centered, research-driven, and inclusive design practices.
  • Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks, like Cypress.
  • Proficiency inusing UI pattern libraries for consistent, tested, and high-quality interfaces.
Flexibility to work onsite in Edinburgh / Glasgow on occasion is also expected.Interested Apply now for immediate consideration!
