Job Description

Agile CoachPertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for a Agile Coach in the Public Sector on a temporary basis for 6 Months with potential extension further.This role will be remote working with the odd requirement to be in the office.Day rate: £650 - £750 (Inside IR35) via umbrella.Main Duties

  • As an Agile Coach you will lead on teaching, coaching and embedding Agile culture, methodology and working environments including Scaled Agile (SAFe), identifying opportunities to improve and scale Agile service delivery.
  • The Agile Coach will educate staff at all levels, including senior managers, and at times work with clients and suppliers on the application of Agile within a large government department. This includes, where appropriate, creation, preparation and deliveryof class room learning to multiple people and both 1 to 1 and team bespoke sessions. Work with Scottish Digital Academy and GDS to understand the stock training that they provide and ensure theoretical lessons can be converted into real practical skills. Anunderstanding of the GDS training curriculum would therefore be an advantage in order to continue building skills that will lead toward the organisation-wide adoption of Agile methodologies.
  • As a mentor, the Agile Coach is responsible for guiding teams in Agile methodology, identifying gaps in knowledge or skills and providing staff with feedback and means of improvement, capitalising on existing training and answering questions. They providehands-on support to all employees, collaborating with people across widely varying levels and roles, leading teams toward further understanding and adoption of Agile as well as building internal capability.
  • There will be a requirement for the Agile Coach to provide practical delivery support and advice when required, working alongside the Delivery Managers, Product Owners and their teams to ensure that the Agile approach being taken is fit for purpose. Keyto this will be the alignment of the core Agile principles with the pragmatic realities of workstream delivery to demonstrate value and align with the Agile adoption strategy.
  • The Agile Coach will be responsible for designing a strategy for the organisational adoption/expansion and measurement of Agile maturity. This includes every stage of adoption, from the introduction of Agile and employee education, to fostering teams andcultures that practice Agile, to sustaining Agile methodologies and continually offering strategies for improvement.
Essential Criteria
  • A proven track record of Agile coaching at all levels within large organisations (ideally within public sector) to effectively embed Agile into the culture, practices and working environment.
  • A proven track record of Scaled Agile (SAFe) coaching at all levels within large organisations (ideally within public sector) to support the continued rollout of SAFE within Social Security Scotland and embed the associated tools, practices and ways ofworking.
  • In depth knowledge of multiple Agile methodologies including Scrum with ability to drive improvements, adapting and adopting where appropriate.
  • Working knowledge of Agile tools including, but not limited to, Jira, Confluence and Trello
  • Delivery experience (Release/Solution Train Engineer, scrum/delivery manager, Product Manager, user-research, service/product design, large scale technology/business models) applying Agile theory into a real-life project/programme
  • Client and stakeholder management, preferably in central government or public service generally
  • Energetic and enthusiastic, with a passion to make a difference in bringing around real and long lasting change to the programme.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels to engage with and bring people across the programme on the ongoing Agile transformational journey.
Candidates are required to have a Basic Disclosure Scotland Certificate
