Job Description

b-spokes are one of the UKs largest independent family-run delivery companies. We provide multi-drop delivery services for market leading brands within our industry, specialising in last mile deliveries in Scotland and the North of England.We currently have over 180 vans on the road across Aberdeen; the Central Belt of Scotland; and Newcastle. We are now looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team based in Edinburgh.The Role - Accounts AssistantReporting to the Finance Manager the Accounts Assistant will be a key member of the team with a hands-on approach. Responsibilities will include:

  • Weekly preparation of self-employed driver invoices (Service Providers) - including Service Provider payment details; van hire costs and deductions
  • Preparation of data sheets for each new month including new start and leaver records (for self employed drivers and employed hourly paid warehouse staff) using various workbooks in excel
  • Maintain Service Provider payment plans, as appropriate
  • Post Service Provider invoices to Xero - the accounting software that we use
  • Match Service Provider invoices to Commercial Banking payments
  • Make an active contribution to Finance team meetings
  • Ad-hoc tasks as and when required to ensure business requirements are met
For context we have around 180 Service Providers who deliver an average of 160 parcels per day 6days per week - so thats a lot of processing and payments, were a busy team.What Were Offering you in return:
  • This is a permanent position
  • Full-time position, working 08:30 - 17:00 each week, Monday to Friday
  • Based in b-spokes Head Office, on New Mart Road, Edinburgh, EH14 1RL
  • Onsite ideally Monday to Thursday Head with some hybrid working - Fridays working from home
  • £27,500 per annum, there may be some flexibility in pay for the right candidate
  • 30 days holiday per year, plus bonus birthday day off (please note holidays are not permitted during our peak period (Nov-Dec))
  • 5% employers contribution to workplace pension scheme
What we are looking for from you
  • Hands-on, can do attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confidence in communicating
  • Solid working knowledge and strong skills in Excel
  • Strong IT skills
  • Previous working experience of Xero
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight timescales
  • Previous experience of working with an accounts payable function
  • Previous experience of working in delivery/transportation, logistics, manufacturing or similar high volume organisation
  • Be an articulate, dynamic, insightful team member who has the ability to operate on their own and as a key member of the team
  • Be task focussed, well organised, reliable and trustworthy
