Job Description

Senior SpecialistWould you like to be part of an organisation which is committed to improving patient lives worldwide through education, collaboration and innovationDo you want to make a differenceIf the answer is yes’ then you’re just the kind of person we’re looking for!The Binding Site seeks an enthusiastic and adaptable Senior Specialist in Protein Biochemistry to join the Production Support team. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing
  • Manage Manufacturing Improvement projects relating to antibody purification and specificity analysis
  • Assist in the supervision and mentoring of junior members of the team, providing mentoring and support as required.
  • Bring knowledge and experience from a spectrum of related scientific disciplines and apply to improvement projects
  • Identify technologies and methods from external sources, including scientific literature which are appropriate to our core expertise.
    • Essential requirements
  • PhD in Biochemistry or related discipline. Applicants without a PhD level qualification must have substantial laboratory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of protein chemistry and immunology.
  • Extensive experience in protein purification, use of ÄKTA systems and Unicorn software.
  • Extensive experience in protein characterisation techniques (e.g. SDS-PAGE, western blotting, etc.).
  • Understanding of immunisation strategies and antibody recognition
  • A passion for biochemical/analytical sciences with a desire to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Extensive experience in performing and troubleshooting immunoassays.
  • Project management experience including project design, implementation, statistical analysis and report writing
  • Supervisory and training experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Evidence of collaborative skills
  • Dynamic individual with strong leadership skills
  • Enthusiastic and able to motivate others to produce high standards of work
