We have a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in working at the forefront of imaging: PETWe currently have a vacancy for a Senior PET/CT Technologist/ Radiographer (Band 6) and we welcome applications from experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Clinical Technologists/ Radiographers who would like to join our team in the PET/CT department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Our Birmingham PET Centre has state-of-the-art equipment; recent instalment of a Biograph mCT Flow PET/CT scanner and a KARL-100 to auto- dispense doses. We are a very busy unit and are presently designing an additional PET suite. You will carry out a wide range of duties appropriate to grade and experience where you will work 3 long days with 4 days off (including weekends). The department actively participates in clinical trials and you will have the opportunity to take part in Research and Development. We have a dedicated on-site licensed Radiopharmacy which reopened in 2014 following a full rebuild. The unit provides a full range of diagnostic and therapy radiopharmaceuticals and blood labelling facilities, and production of Gallium-68 PET radiopharmaceuticals.CPD is actively encouraged and you will have the opportunity to further your knowledge and experience by attending and presenting at conferences and seminars. The PET Centre is part of Nuclear Medicine service at QEHB that currently employs 65 staff and continues to expand apace. We also have 6 Nuclear Medicine radiologists. Following the recent merger with Heart of England Foundation Trust we are now an even larger team. In contrast to many other nuclear medicine services we are expanding and are on a sound financial footing for the foreseeable future, so there are good prospects for career progression.Birmingham is a city in the heart of the country which is a hotbed of culture that is rich and diverse. As the second most populous city in England there is a rich and colourful calendar of festival events, fantastic shopping, plenty of historic landmarks and beautiful surrounding countryside. Allegedly there are more miles of canals in Birmingham than in Venice – this may be an urban legend but from my experience, there are a lot!Exciting times ahead!
