Job Description

Principal/Lead Scientist Midlands (location flexible) Salary up to £70K Jackson Hogg are be delighted to be partnering with a growing biotechnology business working on the development of diagnostic testing for infectious disease. This organisation is developing established technology and expanding into various veterinary settingswith a view to moving into human health in the future.The RoleThis individual will have a varied role supporting the development of the diagnostic product from proof of concept through to commercialisation. The role duties listed below will form part of the initial and daily duties, however it is expected that thisrole will vary dependent on the stage of development of the product.

  • The setup of a laboratory in the midlands, this will include bringing in a team of staff to work in the laboratory
  • Tech transfer from university labs to the new laboratory, working with university research teams to problem solve and ensure a smooth transfer
  • Validation of existing methods and optimisation
  • Further molecular development as required
  • Ensuring regulatory and quality compliance for the development of the product
  • Acting as a technical and scientific leader
  • Speaking at conferences and networking within the industry
As this role will involve setting up the new laboratory, this individual can be based anywhere across the Midlands region. There will be some UK and international travel, although not significant.Requirements
  • Strong molecular diagnostics experience
  • Experience working with infectious agents, including bacteriophages
  • Experience working on product research and development in an industrial setting
  • Knowledge of quality and regulatory for diagnostics, experience of ISO13485
  • Strong communication skills and leadership ability
