Job Description

Service Manager (2 posts)University Hospital HairmyresPost A: Service Manager, Care of the Elderly Directorate, University Hospital Hairmyres,Post B: Service Manager, Surgical and Critical Care Directorate, University Hospital Hairmyres,Two exciting opportunities have arisen to join the management team at University Hospital Hairmyres (UHH) as either Service Manager for Care of the Elderly or Service Manager for Surgical and Critical Care. These posts will support the Site Director, Chief of Medicine and Chief Nurse in all aspects of the operational day to day running of the Directorate, and the wider UHH site, whilst helping facilitate the local delivery of corporate objectives.Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Effective management of outpatient and inpatient/ day case capacity and demand to ensure timely access to care for our patients
  • Line management responsibility for the Directorate’s Business Support function
  • Delegated budget holder across the Directorate to return a financially balanced position and to deliver CRES targets
  • Leadership of discrete projections as delegated by the Site Director
  • The successful candidates will be expected to support the delivery of change in a fast paced and complex environment. This will be achieved in part by building trust and credibility with a range of stakeholders, by drawing on a solid understanding of data and measurement to ensure efficacy of action and by demonstrating effective leadership.A comprehensive understanding of staff governance and financial governance and its application within NHS Scotland will be advantageous to the successful candidate.Successful candidates will also be able to demonstrate knowledge of the key local and national targets and standards which are relevant to the delivery of acute unscheduled and planned care within NHS Scotland.You will also contribute to the sites duty manager rota which provides an excellent opportunity for you to enhance your skills and drive forward dynamic and innovative approaches across the site. with the support of a highly motivated and engaged team.These posts are exciting and challenging.
