Job Description

Protective Care Group was established to provide bespoke and tailor-made support for young people with severe, complex needs, particularly those exhibiting challenging behaviour.We specialise in providing a level of support that local authorities are often unable to and are looking for kind, caring and non-judgemental Support Workers to play an integral part in the delivery of this. About the Support Worker role:As a Support Worker with Protective Care Group, we can almost certainly guarantee that no day will be the same, but what will be consistent is your unwavering commitment to making a real difference to somebody’s quality of life and future prospects.Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with daily activities, medication management, meal preparation, and other personal care tasks.
  • Coaching and mentoring a young person to support their personal development, growth and help them realise their own ambitions.
  • Managing conflict by engaging in positive approaches to challenging behaviour.
  • Identifying and mitigating risk on a daily basis for everyone, including the young person.
  • Communicating effectively with the young person’s key stakeholders.
  • Report writing.
About you:You must have a full UK Driving licence, be comfortable traveling for work and able to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, which includes a combination of working days/nights and overnight stays.You will be given all the training, tools and ongoing support that you’ll need to do your role well, but we will also be looking for candidates with:
  • Professional or lived experience working with adults or young people with complex needs.
  • Ability to be unfazed by challenging behaviours, such as severe aggression, biting, punching, verbal abuse, sexualized behaviours, self-harm and absconding. Due to this, physical restraint can be involved.
  • Knowledge around safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Ability to accurately record events and incidents.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team towards a common goal.
  • Resilience and ability to remain calm during difficult situations.
  • Commitment to own continuous professional development, including working towards achieving Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
