Job Description

CDDFT are investing an additional £3m into Therapy services across the University Hospital of North Durham (UHND), Darlington Memorial Hospital (DMH) and Bishop Auckland Hospital (BAGH). There has never been a better time to come and join us in developing high quality, evidence based and compassionate therapy services. We are recruiting posts within Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and language Therapy, Podiatry, Nutrition and Dietetics, Clinical Psychology and Psychological Practitioners.As part of this MDT you will have the opportunity to influence the development of:

  • integrated pathways across the health and care system
  • innovative new roles
  • training to upskill our workforce
  • As Therapy services working together we will be able to ensure the care offered is individualised, evidenced based and builds a resilient workforce for the future. We will also be investing further in our community services to further develop partnership working across the Health and Care System.The post will have 0.5wte (each) allocated to critical care rehab to support the newly formed Rehab After Critical Illness MDT. This team comprises of Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Consultant, Nurse Specialist and Counsellor. The post holders will have the opportunity to develop the role in this newly formed MDT in line with NICE guidance. This aspect will include ITU, ward and clinic work. The remaining 0.5wte of the posts will be allocated to ward rehab work. There will be the opportunity to extend your scope of practice with regards to enteral feeding devices. The posts will be part of the secondary care dietetic team.The Nutrition and Dietetic service is structured into teams; secondary care (incorporating nutrition support), bariatrics, primary care (incorporating care home training), adult & paediatric diabetes, adult Home Enteral Feeding, paediatrics (incorporating Home Enteral Feeding and paediatric weight management). We have 7 band 5 dietitians, 29 band 6 dietitians and 9 band 7 dietitians and are an integrated service with specialist enteral nutrition nursing. We are supported by dietetic assistants and central administration. As a service we are based on 4 sites in the County, at Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital.The department trains dietetic students (A, B and C placement) and the post holder will have an active role in student training planning, co-ordination and assessmentWe use SystmOne for our records and mobile working within our community service.
