At MGL every member of our Team is valued for the part they play in the company’s overall success.Due to continued growth and investment we have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced SHEQ Advisor to join our Team.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake regular site inspections and engagement visits to evaluate the effectiveness of the SHEQ Management Systems and ensure reports are adequately closed-out with corrective actions completed within agreed timescales.Advise on the production of key documentation and support operational teams in the interpretation and application of the SHEQ Management Systems and any supporting policies, procedures and processes to enhance awareness, engagement and capability.Ensure that incidents and near misses are effectively managed, reported, investigated and made subject to root cause analysis in accordance with MGL procedures and support the operational teams to embed lessons learned.Provide comprehensive support to operational teams to ensure the identification and management of SHEQ risks and opportunities is considered at the planning stage of works.Support and facilitate liaison with Clients and enforcing authorities to maintain their confidence & respect.Support in the preparation and cascade of SHEQ Alerts / Bulletins and other communication campaigns.Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with relevant compliance obligations, best practice and Company standard working procedures.What we are looking for - Ideal Candidate

  • NEBOSH General and/or NEBOSH Construction or equivalent Health and Safety Qualification with a minimum of TechIOSH membership
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of CDM
  • Hold formal Environmental qualifications to a minimum of PIEMA Level Membership (Preferred)
  • Hold a recognised incident investigator qualification (Preferred)
  • Hold a recognised internal auditor qualification
  • Demonstrable experience of the maintenance of management systems to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Have experience of construction and demolition activities
  • Experience of working within the Highways Industry desirable
  • Self-motivated - improvement orientated with a desire to undertake any other relevant Learning and Development deemed necessary to enhance performance and maintain their own competencies through CPD processes
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral, and ability to deal with all of the business hierarchy
  • The ability to thrive in pressure situations and work on own initiative when required
  • The ability to empathise and communicate with people
  • Excellent organisation, communication, IT and time management skills
