Job Description

Ref: 13670 Role: Project Manager (Utilities / Change / Regulation)Location: homebased with very occasional visits to either Peterborough or DurhamSalary: £36,000 - £40,000 (pro-rata)Term: FTC (Feb - October 2022)Summary:A major water utility has an exciting programme of activities to support the ongoing growth and development of the business. They are looking for a Project Manager with experience of planning, mobilising, managing full project life cycle and delivering transformational change to enable delivery of an efficient customer-focused service. They have an extensive portfolio which spans market and regulatory change, proposition and customer service improvements, small change and IT business as usual change. The projects vary in size and complexity, but all require the ability to safely deliver and embed change (IT and non-IT) in a complex, regulated, operational environment.Key responsibilities:

  • Determine and define project scope and objectives for business and transformation projects
  • Ensure projects are commercially sound & compliant with policy, regulatory & customer reqs
  • Ensuring solutions solve key business needs in an integrated and simple manner
  • A positive relationship with the business customer driving the demand for the solution
  • Ensure delivery within budget and schedule whilst assessing risk and balancing the need for flexibility and agility
  • Act as a guardian between all internal & external stakeholders with an interest in change
  • Lead all projects using a project plan, RAID log & regular reporting
  • Timely production of deliverables, project planning and risk and issue management
  • Regularly provide visibility of progress of projects across the business to senior stakeholders
  • Effective management of project finances including accurate project forecasting and tracking
  • Ensure communication, training & mentoring is in place to ensure the readiness for change
Skills and experience required:
  • PM experience, including end-to-end delivery of at least two medium sized projects
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills required
  • Able to drive large, cross-functional change mgmnt programs with multiple stakeholders
  • Fully ICT literate and competent in the use of MS Office products
  • Ability to influence people from different levels of the organisation
  • Highly organised with a keen focus on time management and scheduling
  • Ability to support people through the different stages of the Change Curve
  • Well-developed listening communication, and decision-making skills
  • Good understanding of end-to-end business processes
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot and provide strategies and solutions
  • Degree in Business, Computer Science, or direct equivalent experience in a retail industry
  • Experience of a range of technologies (Utility billing, SOA, BI Solutions, Datawarehouse solutions, Drupal, SalesForce)
  • PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, AgileScrum, SAFe, Scrum Master - preferred
  • Understands the utility sector and market regulation
