Job Description

Adecco Sunderland is working with global client based close to Durham who are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.Our client offers an extremely generous salary which is dependent on experience, this role offers ambitions and motivating challenges. This is a regular working pattern of Monday to Friday with flexible working as they require 2 days on site and 3 days remoteworking.Our client also offers:

Purpose:We are seeking a self-motivated engineer looking to take a leadership role driving the design and development of highly technical electromechanical products. In this position you will work cross-functionally with global teams of engineers in product development,project management and cost down initiatives while meeting our manufacturing, safety, quality, regulatory code compliance and marketing objectives. Must be energized by driving innovation and new product development, understanding costs and taking a productdesign from concept to retail presence. Position involves close coordination with business leaders, manufacturing, marketing, industrial design and customer base.Responsibilities
  • Think creatively to develop ideas that can be protected by patents.
  • Develop 2D and 3D models of designs for implantation in high volume production
  • Concept development, prototyping, testing ideas
  • Learn how to develop products within compliance (i.e. UL, CSA, CE), safety and reliability requirements
  • Report out to management on a regular basis
  • Understand and develop technical requirements that tie directly to customer requirements
  • Working knowledge of the design/manufacturing of plastic molding, stamped parts and die cast parts
  • Ability to correctly tolerance parts with GD&T for form, fit, and functions.
  • Perform/specify the required testing for design and performance verification.
  • Ability to work on and coordinate multiple, global projects.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with a global team
  • Possess well-developed interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
Requirements
  • BS or MS in Engineering or related
  • 2- 5 years prior experience - product development, design engineering
  • Knowledge of design and manufacture in electro-mechanical products
  • Desired: Experience with injection molding, stamping, machining, electronics, and battery charging systems
  • Understanding of Electromechanical Systems including motors, controllers & optics
  • Possess well-developed interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
  • Think creatively to develop ideas that can be protected by patents.
  • Able to work creatively, with ambiguity
  • Perform/specify the required testing for design and performance verification.
  • Ability to work on and coordinate multiple, global projects.
  • Ability to work in a global, multi-functional team environment.
  • Up to 10% international travel may be required, once restrictions are lifted
