Job Description

Maintenance Operative (Repairs and Groundworks)DurhamTemporaryWe are currently recruiting on behalf of a public sector client in Durham who are looking for a Maintenance Operative to join their team on a temporary basis.Responsibilities of the Maintenance Operative (Repairs and Groundworks) include:

  • Inspect estates on a regular basis and take appropriate action to maintain a high standard of environmental cleanliness
  • To report potential breaches of tenancy or issues with private properties
  • Complete minor repairs to properties to prevent further deterioration
  • Liaise with local council or other agencies to resolve pest control issues
  • Work with local council and other agencies to identify and resolve safety risks or hazards on estates (this will include dangerous trees, street lighting, pot holes or broken pavements)
  • Inspections of the communal areas within flat blocks as required
  • General gardening and maintenance tasks to properties and land as required
  • Respond to vulnerable and elderly customers requiring the handyperson service
  • Complete needle searches to void properties
  • Manage health and safety issues in your area of responsibility
  • Deliver leaflets or other information to residents where necessary
    • Required Criteria of the Maintenance Operative (Repairs and Groundworks):
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Experience working within a similar grounds maintenance role
    • Desirable Criteria of the Maintenance Operative (Repairs and Groundworks):
  • Knowledge and experience in undertaking basic routing repair and maintenance skills
  • Knowledge and experience in horticulture including using handheld machinery for cutting grass, hedge trimming, tree pruning
  • Proven experience of carrying out landscape maintenance and cleaning
