Job Description

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU

  • Continental shift pattern working 3 days on 3 days off (rotating days and nights 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am)

THE BUSINESSWestray Recruitment Group is seeking experienced Extrusion Machine Setters who work within the Plastics Sector to work for our high-volume manufacturing client based in Durham.THE ROLE
  • Working in accordance with the companys BRC Certification, Health & Safety policy and good manufacturing practice.
  • Perform product changeovers, setups and run to the manufacturing specification, particularly within the production time targets.
  • Diagnose and correct running faults in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate progress and any issues that arise with the Shift Manager.
  • Ensure correct raw materials are input into the extruder to the correct specifications.
  • Monitor the quality sheet being produced.
  • Ensure the reels of extruded sheet are stacked, neatly, correctly labelled and marked with the correct signage.
  • Ensure all the correct IT procedures are followed and paperwork is accurate and reels used in numerical order.
  • Ensure all waste or defect product is segregated to enable appropriate removal.
  • Maintain all equipment in a satisfactorily clean, safe and operational state.
  • Ensure all emergency stop/safety systems are in place before entering guarding.
  • To control and minimize the levels of any waste and ensure machine is achieving maximum productivity.
  • Take an active part in any training and development programmes.
  • Carry out all machine clean downs as instructed on the SOP.
  • The correct PPE must be worn where stated and safe working practices adhered to.
  • Always maintain a clean, organized and safe environment.
  • Responsible for machine handover to the next shift operator.
THE PERSON
  • Experienced extrusion machine operator.
  • Working with polypropylene material for food packaging, specifically Diamat machines would be an advantage
  • Experience in manufacturing environments and working shift patterns.

THE PACKAGE Starting rate depending upon level of experience £11.50 (£25,116) or £13 (£28,392), once fully trained (usually within 12 weeks) £14.00 (£30,576). This is an hourly/weekly paid role but monthly payroll is available.
