FIVE CLINICAL TEACHING FELLOWSTo start on Wednesday 4 August 20212 posts – University Hospital of North Durham2 posts - Darlington Memorial Hospital1 post – Simulation Centre, Bishop Auckland General HospitalNodal point 3 (£38,694) local appointment grade code – MT03Nodal point 4 (£49,036) local appointment grade code – MT04(depending on experience)Interviews will take place in February 2021 - Via a virtual Platform WebEx We are looking to recruit five (5) Clinical Teaching Fellows. Fellows will get the opportunity to teach and facilitate teaching sessions for undergraduate Medical/Physician Associate students and Foundation Doctors, deliver formative and summative assessments, develop their organisational and leadership skills and design and plan timetables. Opportunities and support are available for educational research experience.Alongside the teaching roles, fellows will be able to spend approximately two sessions per week in a clinical area of their choice, in a supernumerary capacity to support their own career development. Two fellows will be based at University Hospital of North Durham and two fellows will be based at Darlington Memorial Hospital and these roles will involve delivering predominantly undergraduate medical education. There is also a post within the Clinical Simulation Centre at Bishop Auckland Hospital, which will predominantly involve delivering and facilitating simulation across a wide range of staff groups and specialties. All Fellows will be expected to travel between sites to support the wider Medical Education Team, as well as travelling to other local hospitals and Newcastle Medical School to support examinations, standard setting and team marking.The posts are suitable for doctors of all grades who have completed their Foundation Training. The posts are not approved for specialty training, although individuals on a specialty training programme may be able to request approval for the post via the appropriate Training Programme Director.You must have full registration with the General Medical Council and either possess the appropriate qualifications in the person specification or be working towards completing this qualification within the current academic year (before August 21). Formal training in teaching/education is not essential, however the successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a history of enthusiasm to teach. The successful candidates will be expected to undertake in-house/regional training to develop this area. Standard study leave rules which apply to specialty trainees, will also apply to these posts. Applicants will be expected to undertake either the Certificate or Diploma in Medical Education starting in September 21, as places have already been reserved via the University of Newcastle for this qualification, and course fees are supported within the Trust up to the value of £2000.In accordance with good practice guidelines from the Criminal Records Bureau, the successful candidate will be required to submit an application for Enhanced Disclosure.Informal enquiries are welcomed and encouraged for the posts.Please contact Mrs Andrea Robson Tel: /, email
