We are seeking to employ dedicated and enthusiastic Associate Practitioners to work in our busy microbiology department. The post holder will be required to participate in a 24 / 7 shift rota as part of the laboratory’s Covid-19 testing service.The post holder will have attained the IBMS Certificate of Achievement Part 2 or Foundation degree in Healthcare Practice. Alternatively, demonstration of equivalent experience and competency at this level may be considered. This role requires a good level of laboratory skills and a keen interest in microbiology. Previous laboratory experience is essential, previous experience in a microbiology laboratory is highly desirable.The successful candidate will prepare and process specimens using a wide-range of laboratory equipment. All duties will be performed to a high standard, following Trust / departmental policies and procedures. You will work across a range of sections during your training including bacteriology, serology and molecular biology.The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. The ability to coordinate and prioritise tasks is essential.The post holder will be based at the University Hospital of North Durham but may be required to travel to other sites which include Darlington Memorial Hospital. This roles requires 24 / 7 shift working.
