We are looking for a 0.5wte Senior Clinical Psychologist (band 8B) to join our Clinical Health Psychology team on a fixed term basis, initially for a period of 12 months from start date. The role will involve leading the General Medical Psychology part of the Clinical Health Psychology Specialty which takes referrals for psychological difficulties related to a wide range of long term and acute medical physical health conditions. Duties will include coordination of the service, triaging new referrals and managing the waiting lists. You will also be responsible for clinical supervision of more junior members of psychology staff (Clinical Psychologists, a CAAP and an Assistant), who also work in the General Medical Psychology Service.You will join a dynamic, well-established, supportive Clinical Health Psychology team, which includes Clinical & Health Psychologists, a CAAP and 2 Assistant Psychologists. The wider Clinical Health Service consists of posts which are embedded within multidisciplinary medical teams across the areas of Pain Management, Adult Weight Management, Rheumatology, Oncology, Intensive Care, Psychosexual and Major Physical Trauma. Clinical work is currently conducted via video conference and telephone (due to current Covid-19 restrictions). A small number of face to face appointments may be carried out where appropriate in community based clinics across Fife and the two main hospitals located in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work, teaching and training and partnership work with other agencies.You will provide specialist psychological assessment and treatments for patients presenting with complex psychological difficulties related to a wide range of physical health conditions. You will also contribute to the evaluation of the service, and to the development of evidence based practice. You should have expertise in delivering a range of effective Psychological Therapy interventions for patients presenting with psychological distress related to acute and long term physical health problems. It would be an advantage to have some training/experience in psychological aspects of physical health problems and chronic disease management.You will also play an active part in the Area Psychology Service, seeking opportunities for research, professional development and contributing to that of others. The post will be based at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline, or Stratheden Hospital, Cupar, but patient clinics may be provided in other community Hospitals in Fife.The Fife Area-Wide Psychology Service is a large (95 wte) service comprising a range of clinical and health specialties, with extensive involvement in training, research and service development. Close links with Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee and St. Andrews Universities’ D.
