Job Description

A leading software house based in Dumbarton with cutting edge Customer Relationship Management and Telephony systems to a variety of sectors involved in managing customer engagement. With almost 15 years experience in the field, the company has an expanding client base with ongoing technical requirements that they fulfil.The company also has a key focus on continuing to innovate its software offerings by utilising modern technologies to deliver enhanced user interaction and functionality.About the Role:Based in Dumbarton, the company is seeking to hire a skilled Progress Openedge Software Developer to help with the day to day support and technical requirements of a successful growing business. You will form part of a dynamic and growing software development team and play a key role in the ongoing development and maintenance of their software products.To be successful in this role, you will need an extensive knowledge of progress programming languages and the software development life-cycle. Your duties will primarily revolve around managing the helpdesks support and development requirements. Also collaborating in or leading new and existing technical projects. Building software by writing code, as well as modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces. You will also be involved in directing system testing and validation procedures, and also working with clients and internal departments on technical issues or support including software system design and maintenance.Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage and maintain the helpdesk, ensuring work is kept up to date and clients are treated with the utmost priority and professionalism
  • To skill up on latest web development environments and technologies
  • To enhance the user experience by developing modern web front ends for their solutions
  • To project manage and deliver their clients software requirements
  • To assist in the ongoing database design, configuration and maintenance of the database element of their software solutions
  • To help deliver innovation proactively through enhancing current solutions and developing new ones
    • You will become a member of the companys growing software development team and will have a detailed knowledge of the products they maintain and develop. You will aim to be involved in as much of the day to day running, management and maintenance of the helpdesk and development projects.Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • HND, Undergraduate Degree, Postgraduate Degree, Masters Degree in relevant IT Discipline
  • At least 3 years experience in a progress developer role
  • Knowledge of database structures and the software development life-cycle
  • Windows Operating Systems
  • Ability to plan projects and meet target dates
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously or in a team
    • Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Knowledge of Asterisk open source PBX
  • IT Security
  • Knowledge of Linux based Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of Progress Openedge databases
    • Programming experience in:
  • Angular 2
  • Bootstrap
